Phone has become slow / hangs

Old phone or new, these steps help speed up almost every Android phone.

Steps

1. Restart the phone
   Simple but powerful — restarting once a week clears the memory that causes hangs.
2. Delete apps you don't need
   Uninstall apps you haven't opened in months (Settings > Apps). Fewer apps = faster phone.
3. Speed up animations (Developer Options)
   Tap Build Number 7 times in Settings > About Phone, then set Window/Transition animation scale from 1x to 0.5x in Developer Options. The phone will instantly feel faster.
4. Keep 20% of storage free
   When storage is 90%+ full, the phone hangs. Empty the gallery trash and move/delete old videos.
5. Remove heavy launchers/themes
   Fancy launchers and live wallpapers eat RAM. Use a simple launcher and a static wallpaper.
6. Factory reset: last resort
   If nothing works, first back up WhatsApp and your photos, then go to Settings > System > Reset > Factory Reset. It makes the phone feel like day one.

Tips

• Installing apps on the SD card slows the phone down — keep them on internal storage.
• Junk cleaner apps often become bloatware themselves; the built-in Storage Cleaner is enough.
