Battery drains too fast
If you left home with a full charge in the morning and the battery was already low by noon, this guide is for you. The usual culprits are screen brightness, background apps, or an aging battery — try these steps.
Steps
- Lower the screen brightness
A bright screen is the battery's biggest enemy. Open Settings > Display > Brightness and keep brightness below 50%, or turn on Adaptive Brightness.
- Check battery usage
Go to Settings > Battery > Battery Usage. If an app you barely use is eating the most battery, uninstall it or turn off its background activity.
- Keep wireless features off when not needed
Turn on Bluetooth, Wi-Fi hotspot and Location only when you need them. In Settings > Location, set the location permission to 'While Using' or 'Never' for apps that shouldn't have it.
- Set screen timeout to 30 seconds
Set Settings > Display > Screen Timeout to 30 seconds. A screen that never turns off drains the battery fast.
- Use Battery Saver
Turn on Battery Saver / Power Saving mode during the day (from the Quick Settings shade). With heavy use it can buy you 1–2 extra hours of battery.
- Old battery? Check its health
If your phone is 2–3 years old, its battery capacity may have dropped. Mobile Ustaad tip: get a battery health test at an authorized service center — avoid cheap roadside batteries.
Tips
- Social media apps running in the background eat the most battery — turn off their auto-start permissions.
- Leaving the phone plugged in after it reaches 100% is not good for battery health.
- Buy a certified-brand power bank instead of a cheap one — a fake power bank damages the battery.
Warning: If nothing improves, don't open up the battery yourself, especially glued backs — that's a job for the service center.
