Forgot the screen lock PIN/password
Phone locked and you can't remember the password? Don't panic — try these official methods first. Any shortcut or third-party tool is risky.
Steps
- Verify with your Google account
Many brands (Samsung, Pixel etc.) offer a 'Forgot password' option after several failed attempts, which unlocks via Google account verification.
- Reset the lock via Find My Device
From another device or browser, open google.com/android/find, log in with your Google account, select your phone and use the 'Secure Device' option — it sets a temporary lock you can use to open the phone.
- Samsung users: SmartThings Find
Samsung account holders can 'Unlock' from smartthingsfind.samsung.com (Remote unlock must already be ON).
- Service center: prove ownership
If nothing works, go to an authorized service center with the phone's purchase receipt / box — they verify ownership and do an official unlock.
- Factory reset: last option (data will be lost)
A factory reset from recovery mode will unlock the phone, but it erases all data — and it will still ask for Google account verification (FRP). Only do this if you have a data backup.
Tips
- Keep both fingerprint + PIN set up, so if you forget one, the other works.
- Save your phone PIN in a password manager.
Warning: Stay away from 'FRP bypass tools' found online — they can be malware and can permanently brick your phone.
