Weak signal / calls dropping
Calls cut off mid-way or the signal bars stay stuck at 1–2? Fixes from both the hardware and settings angles are below.
Steps
- Enable Wi-Fi Calling
If your home Wi-Fi is good, turn on Settings > SIM > Wi-Fi Calling — calls will go over the internet and never drop.
- Select the network manually
In Settings > SIM > Network Operators, turn OFF 'Choose automatically' and manually select your carrier. Sometimes the phone latches onto a weak tower.
- Remove metal cases
Thick metal or magnetic phone cases block the signal — test with the cover removed.
- Carrier settings update
Install Settings > System > Software Update and carrier-related updates — they include network fixes too.
- Replace an old SIM
SIM cards that are 5–7 years old can cause signal problems. Get a same-number new SIM from a carrier franchise (usually free/cheap).
- Report to the helpline
If everyone in the area has the same problem, complain to the helpline — only the carrier can fix a tower issue.
Tips
- Everyone's signal is weak in basements and parking lots — that's not the phone's fault.
- On dual SIM, keep the call SIM on 2G/3G and the data SIM on 4G/5G for the best of both.
